A Pig Rescue

I carried out a “pig rescue” today. Here he is .. the poor little creature. He is the 3rd little pig i have seen at that particular house, and the other two died within a week. I couldn’t let it happen to this one. He has internal and external parasites and is bloated but starved (just look at those rib bones showing through). I picked him up in a small yard … 110 degrees of dust with a little piece of metal for him to crawl under to get out of the sun. Q100 seemed a small price to pay to get him out of there … I figured that even if he died here, his last few days would be much better than over there.

I held him for a long time after i got him home so he wouldn’t be afraid … and i rubbed parasite cream into his skin (he actually looks better here than when he arrived). He’s had a good big meal of dog concentrate with sliced zuccini and carrots … of course, he wouldn’t touch the vegies but quite literally PIGGED OUT on the dog food! And you wouldn’t believe how quickly he took to sleeping on a towel (as soon as he saw it, he moved onto it and mucked it about with his nose for a minute and laid down and has never laid down on the bare floor since) … I would say he is completely trained to do that already!! Talk about smart!! And he already recognizes the container with the dog food in it … he pushed it all around the floor trying to get at it again.

I know he looks pretty rough right now, but i made him a vow that he would never again in his life feel as bad as he did when i picked him up this morning.   We are taking it slow … no need to stress him any more than he has been stressed. Tomorrow he will get an internal parasite injection … and the day after an injection of antibiotics … and then you just watch … I’ll send updated photos.

Oh yeah … he is going to need a name. Any suggestions?
