I was walking into the house the other day when i glanced down at the path and saw this scorpion being dragged across the stones by a lot of ants.
I ran for the camera to record the action!
The ants were moving the scorpion along at a fast clip and headed right for the stone step up.
They didn’t even slow down … they just started right up the side, dragging the body of the scorpion right along with them.
They dragged one front claw into the hole in the rock. At one point, the tail was just hanging free with all the ants on that end just kicking their feet in the air.
Bit by bit they inched up the wall, pulling the scorpion into the hole … however, one front claw was hanging down, catching on the edge of the hole and impeding progress.
It didn’t take them long to figure out the problem, and send out enough workers to get that other claw headed for the hole.
Unfortunately, they took it into the OTHER hole …
The last i saw of them before I was called away, they were gathering at the “join” of the two claws to figure out the solution to this next impediment to forward movement. When i returned a short while later, there was not a sign of ants or scorpion, so they found the way to solve the problem. We guess that that big gathering of ants at the head of the scorpion is beginning the dismembering process and in no time at all, they took the scorpion apart and continued dragging it home for dinner.
